Weekly Photo Challenge – On the move – Cycling in the Netherlands

“For this week’s photo challenge, share your interpretation of “on the move.” You can be the subject of your image, or you might want to experiment with movement or transportation in a different way.”

Dutch love to cycle. Every morning lots of children, commuters and scholars cycle to their school, work or train station. The cyclepath in front of my home is never empty. For the cyclist a two-way cyclepath is available, for cars only a oneway road.
Helmets? No, the Dutch don’t wear helmets while cycling. Dutch cyclist run red lights and make phone calls while cycling. Of course they send text messages and I even noticed them watching movies on their smartphones.

  1. Pussycat44 zegt:

Makes me wonder what the statistics are in the Netherlands for head injuries while cycling without a helmet.

  2. Cyclehelmets are designed for crashes till 20 km/hr. Research showed that cyclist with helmets are willing to take more risk. So wearing a helmet increases the risk of getting a head injury.
